Wind rose, from a weather file.

Drop an EnergyPlus weather file (.epw) for your site. Every hour's wind is counted by direction and speed, and you get the rows to paste into archiWindRose, our free wind rose object for Archicad. The file is read on your computer and never uploaded.

    Weather files

    Where to get an EPW.

    Climate.OneBuilding.Org ↗

Free typical-year (TMYx) files for thousands of stations worldwide. Download the .zip; this page reads it as it is.

    EPWMap (Ladybug Tools) ↗

A map of the same station files. Click the station nearest your site.

    EnergyPlus weather data ↗

The EnergyPlus project's own collection of EPW files.

A weather file describes a typical year at the station, usually an airport, measured 10 m above open ground. Hills, water and buildings around your site change the wind, so read the rose as the regional pattern, not a measurement of the plot.
