    Features & Workflows

Rules, criteria, targets, previews, and rule-set management.

Rules are the unit of work

A rule is a filter plus a target. You can stack multiple rules and apply them together: they run in order, so you can chain 'move walls to the right layer' → 'set fire rating property' → 'assign classification' on the same elements.

    Element type + criteria

Start every rule by picking an Element Type (Wall, Column, Slab, Object, Zone, etc.). Then add Criteria: each criterion is a property check with an operator and value. Example: 'Thickness less than 0.20 m' selects only thin walls.

    Renovation filter

Restrict rules by renovation status: useful when cleaning up merged files where existing-to-remain and new-construction elements need different layer assignments.

    The four target types

    • Layer: the simplest, moves elements to a specific layer
    • Favorite: the most powerful, applies the Favorite's complete settings (layer, pen, materials, attributes, properties)
    • Property: sets or updates a single property value
    • Classification: sets the classification from the Archicad Classification tree

    Preview in 2D and 3D

Matched elements highlight blue on the floor plan and in the 3D window. Flip between both before applying to make sure the rule isn't over-matching or missing edge cases.

    Saving and loading rule sets

Save a combined set of rules once, load it into any new file, hit Apply, and you're done. A reusable template-migration ruleset pays for itself on the second project.

    Copy from Selected

Build a rule's criteria automatically from elements you've already selected in the model, including windows and doors and string-based properties, instead of typing each criterion by hand.

Capture tool settings as a Favorite

From the rule editor, capture the current tool settings and save them as a project Favorite that the rule then applies to every matching element: a fast way to standardize element settings across a merged file.

    Reuse and persist rules

Duplicate an existing rule as a starting point, double-click any rule to edit it, and your rule set is saved with the project file (alongside the exportable XML). Criteria values respect the project's working units.

    Available in more windows

The archiTransfer menu is now available from 3D views, sections, elevations, and layouts, not just the floor plan.
