Answers to the most common questions about archiZone inside Archicad. For pre-purchase questions, see the FAQ on the product page.
AutoTag assigned wrong roles: how do I fix it?
AutoTag uses story position as a heuristic: zones below ground get Basement/Semi-Basement, zones on the ground story get Ground Floor, etc. For unusual story structures (split levels, mezzanines, sunken ground floors) you'll need to override manually. Select the affected zones and click the correct role button, or use click-to-tag to reassign one at a time.
Why is my Lot Coverage higher than expected?
Overlapping zones on the same story used to inflate LC. archiZone runs a boolean polygon union to avoid this, but if zones extend past the building footprint (covered terraces, awnings) they still count. Check the Audit panel: it lists every zone and slab grouped by story with area and role, so strays are easy to spot.
Can I track compliance for more than one building?
Yes: assign a Building ID to each zone using the multi-building controls. Compliance Charts then shows per-building ratios alongside the project totals. Useful for campus-style sites and mixed-use lots.
What's the difference between tagging zones and tagging slabs?
archiZone counts zones for area calculations. Slabs are used for the Net Area Ratio (net-to-gross comparison per story) but don't directly count toward LC/FAR/UC/GSR. Your workflow should tag zones; slabs are checked automatically during audit.
Does archiZone support non-Kosovo zoning codes?
Not yet. The tagging, highlighting, area calculation, and Property Highlighter tools work anywhere, but the compliance indices (ISHP, ISPN, ISN, IGJ) are Kosovo-specific. Other countries will be added in the future: contact support if you have a specific regulation you'd like supported.
How do I sync data with the WebApp?
In the Project Info section, use Load and Save to pull site area and ratios from the WebApp or push them up. Zoning data, investment analysis, and project reports flow bidirectionally, so changes in either place show up in the other.
Can I export Compliance Charts to my documentation?
Yes: click Export to Layout in the Compliance Charts dashboard. The chart lands on the active Archicad Layout with the current values baked in. Re-export any time to refresh.
What does Property Highlighter do that's different from role highlighting?
Role highlighting colors zones by their archiZone role. Property Highlighter is a general-purpose tool that color-codes any Archicad element by any property: walls by fire rating, columns by material, objects by any classification. Useful well beyond zoning workflows.
Do I lose my tags if I re-open the file in stock Archicad?
No: zone roles are stored as standard Archicad properties, so they persist in the file and survive version upgrades, file merges, and opening without the add-on installed.
